Disability Outreach Program

  • Extensive data collection continues on all physically challenged persons in Antigua and Barbuda and is presently awaiting the electronic programing for the storing of information;
  • The collaboration of working with local and regional stakeholders re: sourcing of much needed necessities to alleviate living conditions of vulnerable persons resulted in the collection and distribution of over 40 wheelchairs, over 20 walkers (adults and children), solar generators and food items to the most vulnerable persons in our communities;
  • CDD requested of NODS to develop a disaster preparedness plan for Persons With Disabilities (PWD’s) in all communities;
  • Advocating for PWD’s at local, regional and international levels where policies and programs are now being developed to assist PWD’s;
  • Mobilizing vulnerable residents to take advantage of the programs and activities organized by Department of Social Policy, Research and Planning;
  • Mobilizing PWD’s to empower themselves by participating in the Gender Affairs, Life Skills Sewing Classes;
  • Working with NGO’s/ CBO’s for the integration of PWD’s into the various seminars and workshops held that were organized nationally;
